The Problem
A convincing face is no longer proof of a real person. A photographed passport isn’t necessarily evidence of identity. And knowing someone’s identity doesn’t necessarily tell you whether you can trust them.
Artificial intelligence is changing what it means to trust the person, or increasingly the technology, on the other side of a digital interaction.
The Solution
But technology is also giving us better answers.
Veritage was founded to bring those answers into everyday use. To help organisations establish who they’re dealing with, determine what they need to know, and have confidence in the evidence behind their decisions.
Our mission is to make the digital world safer for genuine people, while making it harder for fraudsters to exploit it.
Know what matters. Nothing more.
Our philosophy is simple: establish what needs to be trusted, gather the evidence to support it, and ask for nothing more.
We believe trust and privacy should reinforce each other, not compete.
- A bank needs to know who its customers are, who owns the businesses it serves, and whether those relationships present a risk.
- An online retailer may only need to know that a customer is over 18.
- An online community may need assurance that someone is a real human being, without needing to know their name.
These are fundamentally different questions. They shouldn’t all require the same intrusive identity check.
THE NEXT CHALLENGE
From identity to authority
Knowing who you’re dealing with matters. Knowing whether they have the authority to act matters just as much.
Acting on your behalf
An AI agent needs more than its own digital identity. It must show it genuinely represents you, and that you’ve authorised it to act.
Bounded by role
When an agent represents a business, its permissions depend on a person’s role, their authority in the organisation and what they can delegate.
Verifiable, not asserted
Authority should be specific, limited, revocable and traceable to the person or organisation responsible for granting it.
Built on cryptography
Verifiable credentials, coupled with robust authentication and authorisation, will become essential foundations for trust in an autonomous digital economy.
HUMAN-TRUST TECHNOLOGIES
Trust that proves itself
We’re building for a world where identity no longer depends on photographing documents and asking AI if they look genuine.
Our mission is to make the digital world safer for genuine people, while making it harder for fraudsters to exploit it.
Credentials that prove themselves
Authentic credentials verify cryptographically, and the provenance of identity evidence matters as much as its appearance.
Trust across the relationship
Customer trust is maintained throughout a relationship, rather than assumed after a single check at onboarding.
Proof without exposure
People can prove facts about themselves without always having to reveal who they are.
Authority you can verify
The software acting on someone’s behalf can demonstrate not just its identity, but its authority.
Relyance, DocuLens, Ringfence and VantAGE tackle today’s trust challenges from different directions, with one shared ambition: digital interactions that are simpler, safer and more respectful of the people involved.
The future of trust shouldn’t depend on collecting more personal information. It should depend on needing less, and being able to trust it more.
Our Team
Meet our founders
Ronan Higgins
Co-founder & CEO
Ronan is a serial technology entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience founding, building and leading businesses at the forefront of emerging technologies.
Before Veritage, he spent 12 years as CEO of TVadSync, developing advanced data science and measurement technologies for the advertising industry. Earlier, he founded Cafe.com in California, pioneering public Wi-Fi services, growing the business to become Southern California's largest independent provider before its successful acquisition. His career also includes leadership roles in digital media, mobile technology and location-based services, often bringing novel technologies to market well ahead of mainstream adoption.
With a scientific background and an MBA in Innovation from Imperial College London, Ronan combines commercial experience with a deep interest in the technologies that reshape industries, from artificial intelligence and data science to cryptography and privacy-enhancing technologies.
At Veritage, his focus is on a fundamental challenge of the emerging digital economy: establishing trust in an age when identities can be fabricated, evidence manipulated and autonomous AI agents increasingly act on our behalf. He believes the next generation of digital trust must be built on verifiable evidence, not appearances, while preserving people's right to privacy.
Ronan Higgins Jnr
Co-founder & CTO
Ronan is a software architect and engineer with over a decade of experience designing complex, security-sensitive and mission-critical technology systems.
Before founding Veritage, Ronan was the first software engineer hired by Manna Drone Delivery, where he spent six years helping build the technology underpinning its autonomous drone operations, from early-stage startup through Series B. His work included architecting flight-critical systems, resilient communications infrastructure and large-scale cloud platforms. He also led Manna's unmanned traffic management project in collaboration with NASA, the FAA and Google Wing, pioneering technology for the safe coordination of autonomous aircraft in shared airspace.
Previously, Ronan worked at Accenture on technology architecture for security-sensitive clients.
At Veritage, he brings that same engineering discipline to a different but equally demanding challenge: building secure, scalable systems that organisations can depend on to establish identity, authenticity and trust in an increasingly digital and autonomous world.
